FRESH FOR 86 the new K-Delight project

"The new K-Delight album is a tribute to the legendary UK FRESH 86 concert and icons of that time Morgan Khan, Chep Nunez, Mantronik and the incredible Mike Allen.
Its an epic mix tape in the traditional sense as it has been recorded with OLD SCHOOL definatly being the theme. Recorded using an old Yamaha multi track tape machine (finding somewhere selling high quality tapes is a story in itself) then mixed down into Cubase where the edits where applied like a wannabe Chep Nunez. All original vinyl used too, with crackles and all. The album contains original audio from the UK Fresh concert tapes, there's snippets of the legend that is Mike Allen, words of wisdom from Arthur Baker and more cutting and scratching than a possessed Edward Scissor hands! Even the art work has been specially produced by North East graffiti pioneer Nikos. His style fitted the brief perfectly to give the listener not only an audio but a visual trip back in time to the eighties. First things first, here's the artwork sleeve by Nikos followed by the mouth watering track and the all important link so the heads can download it for free. Oh yeah, we forgot to mention this 5 month project is being given away for FREE, DAAAM!

THE ALBUM HAS BEEN A 5 MONTH LABOUR OF LOVE. FROM DIGGING OUT THE TUNES AND HAVING TO SELECT THE FAVOURITES, TO THE LONG DRAWN OUT PROCESS OF TRYING TO COMPILE A TIGHT SET USING ONLY 2 STEREO TRACKS AND OVERDUB SCRATCHES ON THE OTHER TWO AND THEN THE FINAL EDITS COMPLETED ON THE TRUSTY LAPTOP USING CUBASE. IT DEFINATLY HAS THAT OLD SOUND WHICH YOU CAN ONLY GET FROM A FOUR TRACK, ITS BASICALLY RAW AND CRUNCHY!

THE IDEA OF USING TAPE NOW TO RECORD ONTO JUST SEEMS SO ALIEN TO KIDS OUT THERE NOW, EVEN THE CD SEEMS TO BE LABELLED AS A THING OF THE PAST BY SOME KIDS SO CHRIST KNOWS WHAT THEY MAKE OF VINYL! MIXING DOWN THIS MIX READY TO BE EDITED WAS LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS, SHEET OF PAPER DIVIDED INTO FOUR THEN ALL THE SETTING WRITTEN DOWN INDIVIDUALLY. YES IT TOOK AGES!

ITS NOW BEEN 25 YEARS SINCE THE ORIGINAL UK FRESH 86 EVENT AT WEMBLEY ARENA. IT WAS BY FAR THE BIGGEST HIP HOP EVENT IN THE UK FOR THE 80'S. THE ORIGINAL AUDIO TAPES ARE STILL AVAILABLE ONLINE AND FEATURE INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCES BY THE WORLD CLASS WRECKIN CREW, DJ CHEESE AND WORD OF MOUTH, STEADY B, GRANDMASTER FLASH, JUSTICE, MANTRONIX AND LOADS MORE. THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION IS GOING TO BE INCREDIBLE! ITS AT THE SCALA IN LONDON ON SATURDAY JULY 16TH. THE LINE UP KEEPS GETTING BIGGER AND BIGGER!
